Alaisa Milburn, 25, was identified this week by the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office as the person who was killed in Lexington Park as a result of domestic violence.
She leaves behind two children.
"We mourn the loss of this young mother, and we hold her family in prayer," St. Mary's County Sheriff Steve Hall stated. "Today’s tragic set of circumstances brings light to the need to continue efforts on all fronts to prevent violence in domestic relationships.
Following her death, tributes have poured in from loved ones and well-wishers who were shell-shocked by her unexpected death.
"Yesterday we lost a very sweet young lady and a great mother," John Duckett wrote. "Rest in Paradise Alasia Milburn. We love you."
"Lay all i can say is I love you girl . And you didn’t deserve this (redacted), another friend posted on Milburn's Facebook page.
"LAY, MARI, FELLY, beautiful souls in all three of (y'all, and) now gone all in less than a month to some weak a-- domestic BS. "(Y'all) need to tighten up and get (your) minds right ... (Because) this ain't it. Parents being taken from kids and grandkids."
